TeamSTC wishes congratulations to Stacey Stemplowski, founder and clinical director of Grounding Balance Wellness & Psychotherapy on the recent grand opening of the new location for her business at 276 Linwell Rd. Stacey is a registered psychotherapist and a core value in her practice is to holistically support a person by weaving mental and emotional support in with their physical wellness. She received the emerging business award at the 2023 Women in Business Awards, is vice-chair for the Women in Niagara Council and serves as a member of the Niagara Region Women’s Advisory Committee.
When setting up her practice, Stacey found she was ineligible for certain funding grants because they didn’t include women, was sometimes not taken seriously because she was a female entrepreneur and ran into a number of other challenge. Committed to empowering women in her community, she encourages anyone facing similar challenges to push through and find support from like-minded individuals like she did.
“Reach out, ask the questions, look for resources,” says Stacey. “There are some amazing opportunities to start conversations and create a network.”
Google and social media searches will help turn up local mentor and wellness groups that support women entrepreneurs, she says. Building that network is how she became involved with the committees and council she sits on.
“There’s never any judgment, there’s no resistance. People are there to support one another.”
International Women’s Day is March 8 and marks an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the achievements and impact of women in St. Catharines. TeamSTC applauds Stacey and all amazing and inspiring women who are leading change everyday in St. Catharines by inspiring inclusion, breaking down barriers, challenging stereotypes and creating environments where all women are valued and respected.
